RIP CURL GIRLS GO SURFING 2019 GOES TO MANGROVE FOREST

Bali – Wednesday, 18 September 2019  Rip Curl and Rip Curl School of Surf under Rip Curl Planet project will host a Girls Go Surfing 2019 event on Saturday 21 September 2019.

Starting at 7am this coming Saturday, more than 30 girls from Bali together with Nadine Chandrawinata & Westny Dj, will join forces with #MangroveMobBali to clean our beautiful Mangroves at Wisata Hutan Mangrove and also plant the corals and participate in a fun day of surfing at and Rip Curl School of Surf, Sanur.

Mangroves, seagrass beds, and coral reefs are often found together and work in concert The trees trap sediment and pollutants that would otherwise flow out to sea. Seagrass beds provide a further barrier to silt and mud that could smother the reefs. In return, the reefs protect the seagrass beds and mangroves from strong ocean waves. Without mangroves, this incredibly productive ecosystem would collapse.

Rip Curl Planet is about giving back. It’s about taking the joy we get from the ocean as surfers, and turning it into momentum to help keep that same ocean healthy and clean for years to come.

We work together with Plastic Bank, Ocean Gardener, Sea Tress and Sea Soldiers to spread the voice to the girls in Bali about plastic pollution. How the plastic destroys our mangroves and our corals. We realized that the plastic pollution is a real problem here, in Bali. We also invite Nadine Chandrawinata and Westny Dj to give extra voices to this event and encourage these girls to follow their lead to fight against the plastic. We want to help solving this problem and collaborate with people who truly care about environmental engagement.

EAT, STAY, SURF WITH THE RIP CURL SCHOOL OF SURF BALI

With its endless wave and swell producing coastline, Indonesia is a surfer’s paradise.  With no major landmass to block or alter the swells that are produced from the Southern Indian Ocean, Indonesia produces some of the best waves on earth.  Made popular by the classic 70’s surf film “The Morning of the Earth,” the beaches of Kuta and nearby reefs are surfed regularly by surfers of all levels.

Opened since 1988, the Rip Curl School of Surf Bali quickly gained the reputation as the best surf school in Bali.  The school teaches students of all levels how to surf, kite, wake and windsurf.  The Rip Curl Scool of Surf Bali operates in three locations allowing for the best conditions regardless of the season: Legian which is the largest of the schools and has calmer waves and is good for beginners; Sanur which offers the perfect access to calm lagoons and coral reefs as well as offshore winds that are great for kitesurfing; and Jimbaran which offers quieter waters for students trying to learn how to bodyboard or stand up paddle board.

Because while Balinese tourism today is sophisticated and largely centred around high-class hotels, restaurants and various activities and attractions, it was originally born of people coming here to do one thing and one thing only surf.
